Aircraft Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance Department


Aviation is a sector that requires different disciplines to work together and in harmony. Today's aircraft are equipped with the high-tech fuselage and engine structures. Advanced technology brings along the need for expert technical staff. As Aircraft Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance Department, our aim is; To train aircraft maintenance personnel equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the maintenance personnel needs of aviation-related institutions or organizations.

Our department provides training as the Aircraft Maintenance Training Organization (SHY-147), authorized by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation. A total of 102 students, 62 for formal education and 40 for secondary education, are admitted to the Airframe and Engine Maintenance Department with the numerical score of the Field Proficiency Test (AYT). Our department's educational activities are carried out by 12 lecturers and 4 technical personnel, consisting of 2 associate professors, 6 doctoral lecturers and 4 research assistants. In addition, when needed, lecturers from other units of our University and experienced technical personnel from aviation-related public institutions or organizations give lectures in our department. Aerodynamics, Aircraft Engines, Control, Composite, Welding, Coating and Airframe-Engine Maintenance Workshops and Computer Laboratories are used for education and research purposes in our department. In addition, our practical courses are conducted at the aircraft maintenance hangar of our faculty, THY Teknik A.Ş., myTECHNIC Aircraft Maintenance Center and the 2nd Air Supply and Maintenance Center Command facilities. Our students do internships for 30 working days at institutions/organizations that provide aircraft maintenance such as THY, TAI, TEI, and myTECHNIC. Our graduates; work as aircraft maintenance licensees in aviation-related institutions/organizations such as Turkish Airlines, Turkish Air Force, Air Supply Maintenance Centers, myTECHNIC and Pegasus.
